10 Health Safety and Environmental Policy
SSNT will perform operations in accordance with the following:
10.1 Health and Welfare
- Identify hazards at places of work and communicate details of health hazards to staff and crews, as appropriate.
- Carry out medical examinations as required by legislation and ensure confidentiality of such examinations.
10.2 Safety
- To prevent all personal injuries, dangerous occurrences and damage to property.
- To ensure that the Instructors, Management and Clients recognise that their commitment to the safety of employees ranks equal to commercial, financial and operational objectives.
- To ensure that all tasks are appropriately risk assessed and mitigated prior to commencement of work.
- To ensure that all employees and students are aware of their responsibilities.
10.3 Environmental
- To promote the awareness of and to protect and conserve the environment. In particular, SSNT will minimise environmental degradation by actively preventing the discharge of oil, oily water, garbage and other contaminants into the sea.
10.4 Objectives
- To prevent incidents and protect personnel.
- To ensure that all operations are undertaken safely
- To develop a sense of personal responsibility for Health, Safety and protection of the Environment in all employees.
- To demonstrate that safe systems of work are essential to efficient operations.
- To demonstrate through satisfactory records that operations are conducted in accordance with these policies.
10.5 Implementation
- Responsibility for implementation of these policies rests with Instructors.
- Clients and students are required to comply with all safety rules and regulations as a condition of tuition.
- When considering new operational sites or boats, full account will be taken to ensure standards are maintained.
- All operational procedures and training instructions will be properly supervised.
- Management will respond positively to changes in policies, procedures or equipment necessary to improve health and safety.
