Enrollment Policy

SSNT online LTDTraining has requirements for admitting learners into programs. The enrollment requirements are fair, equal, and published so that everyone can see them. SSNT online LTD follows the ideal “first qualified, first admitted.” This means that qualified learners are accepted in the order they apply for programmes.

1.2 Purpose

The purpose of enrollment requirements is to make sure that learners are prepared for their programs and can be successful. This policy makes sure enrollment requirements and procedures are clear, fair, and equal.

1.3 Main Objectives

SSNT has enrollment requirements for all programs. These requirements are publicly available.

  1. SSNT has the right to deny enrollment. This means that SSNT has the right to not allow a learner to study in a program.
  2. SSNT will not normally admit anyone who owes money to SSNT.
  3. When a learner is not admitted to a program, he or she may be admitted to a different program or a different intake.
  4. When the waitlist for a program is full, the SSNT will not accept any more applications for that intake.

1.4 Definitions

1.5 Enrollments Criteria

1.5.1 Age Requirement

All students must be at least at the age of 18 years.

1.5.2 Language, Literacy, Numeracy Requirements

It is optional for every student to undertake a literacy and numeracy check prior to commencement of studies in a course.

1.5.3 Academic Entry Requirements

There are no prescribed academic qualifications for SSNT courses. Students who do not hold passes in CXC General Level Mathematics, English and Integrated Science are advised to take the literacy and numeracy check on enrollment and prior to paying fees.

1.5.4 Recognition of Prior Learning

If an applicant is applying for RPL, the applicant is required to make an appointment with the Assessor to discuss their eligibility and the process. The assessor will notify the enrollment team, with the RPL outcome for the course and then a revised offer is to be made, if required.

1.5.5 Combining Courses

Integrating courses together requires approval before the course can be delivered, this includes combining full courses with revalidation and refresher courses.  While it may be possible to combine assessment activities for Boatmaster Grades 1 and 2, the course curriculum must be delivered as approved.

1.5.6 Course Assessments

Minor corrections to an examination, such as rewording a question or correcting a confusing answer, must be documented in the record of change for that course.  All other changes to assessments must be submitted to CANTA/Maritime Services Division for approval prior to implementation.
