STCW Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch
STUDENT MANUAL
This course is for people already working in boat operations and have previously completed STCW Basic Training. No academic qualifications are needed for admission to vessel operations programs, but functional literacy and numeracy are. Students who intend to advance to Boatmaster licences must check their eligibility for that with the Maritime Services Division, MOWT.
RFPNW teaches seafarers how to contribute to a safe navigational watch and provides the knowledge, understanding, proficiency, and ability to understand orders and to communicate with the officer of the watch in matters relevant to watch keeping duties; procedures for the relief, maintenance, and handover of a watch; and information required to maintain a safe watch.
Successful candidates will be able to perform the duties of a watchkeeper in the deck department on a ship.
