Student Support Policy

SSNT online LTD strives to design and deliver effective learning and teaching activities in its programmes with the prime purpose of delivering the intended learning outcomes and programme curriculum. The Instructors advise the Chief Instructor on measures to enhance the quality of learning and teaching. Administrative support is provided by the Office Manager and Chief Verifier.  

SSNT programmes are developed on the Work-Based Learning (WBL) model which is a student-centred approach. WBL is mainly concerned with constructive alignment between a programme’s intended learning outcomes, teaching and learning activities, and assessment tasks.

2.1 Learning Support

SSNT is dedicated to optimising students’ chances of successful completion of their enrolled programmes through offering various forms of learning support to enhance students’ learning effectiveness. The learning support includes a Personal Tutor.

2.1.1 Personal Tutors

A student, upon admission, is assigned an academic staff member who takes the role of Personal Tutor (PT) for the student. The PT has to know the student as an individual, keep an eye on his/her overall academic progress and general welfare in his/her nautical life. Students may consult their tutor face-to-face for any difficulties that they come across in their studies and seek advice on academic progression.

2.2 Student Engagement and Complaints

Students are welcome and free to respectfully express their views and opinions to the Personal Tutors and Instructors.
