You must have an official Liberian Seafarer's Identification and Record Book (SIRB) and have a valid STCW Basic Training certificate.
You must have six (6) months of service in the deck department on ocean-going vessels, three (3) months of which must have been on vessels over 500 gross tons. Three (3) months of this service may be replaced by successful completion of a training course approved by the Deputy Commissioner's Office.
You must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid medical certificate, issued in the preceding 12 months.
