Eighteen (18) months of service in the deck department.
Six (6) months of this service may be replaced by successful completion of a training course approved by the DCO.
An applicant for Able Seafarer Deck or Engine certification must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicant must meet the physical examination requirements for an officer's certificate of competency.
The physical examination should be completed within the 12 months immediately preceding application with the results noted on a Physical Examination Report.
